The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Habersham, Rabun and Stephens Counties until 7pm Wednesday. Possible SW winds gusting to 55mph.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until this afternoon for all of North Georgia.

A Flood Advisory is in effect until 2:15PM for Rabun County.

In addition, a Wind Advisory is in effect until 1AM for all of North Georgia as well, with wind gusts up to 40MPH possible. Gusts to 50MPH are possible with any storms that develop across the region over the next few hours, and we have already seen these strong wind gusts earlier this morning resulting in downed trees and powerlines across portions of the county.

No other Watches/Warnings are in effect at this time, and the vast majority of both the precipitation and severe threat have passed. Temperatures remain in the 50’s for Habersham, with a wedge boundary situated right along the southern edge of the county, stretching down towards Gainesville. A tornado warning for NW Stephens County earlier this morning followed this boundary, and any other storms that develop along it will have to be watched closely for tornadic activity. Right now, no more storms are located downstream, which will pretty much put an end to our severe threat. Gusty winds associated with the strong pressure gradient to our north will continue through the day (see wind advisory above).

Expect more showers through the afternoon, though much less widespread and with much less flooding concerns, with some flurries possible tonight and up to 1″ of snow possible in the higher elevations towards Rabun/Towns Counties.

If you have any photos of damage from this weather system, feel free to send them to us at news@nowhabersham.com or weather@nowhabersham.com.

Be safe, folks!
