(Cleveland)- Weather forecasters say that accumulating snow is likely for higher elevations of Northeast Georgia overnight and early Thursday. According to the National Weather Service, scattered rain showers will continue across portions of Northeast Georgia this afternoon and evening.
At elevation above 2,000 feet rain will start to mix with snow early this evening and transition to all snow by midnight. Cleveland’s elevation is 1575 feet. Moisture will be limited so snowfall accumulations should be light and mainly on grassy areas or elevated surfaces. Snow fall totals of an inch or less are expected through mid morning Thursday.
A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 AM Thursday for North and Central Georgia. Forecasters say winds from the south to southwest from 25 to 30 miles per hour with gust up to 40 will continue. Numerous trees may be downed due to the web soil conditions, driving may become difficult and loose objects may also be blown around if not secured.
