An armed robbery at a convenience store in Banks County led to an unsuccessful search for the suspects early Thursday. Sgt. Carissa McFadden of the Banks County Sheriff’s Office says the three men held up the Golden Pantry on Historic Homer Highway around 12:44 a.m. All three were wearing bandannas over their faces and were armed with handguns when they entered the store.

The robbery prompted a ground and aerial search involving officers from Banks and Jackson counties along with the Georgia State Patrol, Georgia Motor Carrier Compliance Division and Lee Arrendale State Prison K9.

After several hours the search was called off. “A K9 track was unable to be located,” explains McFadden in an email press release. “It is highly possible that these individuals had a getaway vehicle out of sight of store personnel and surveillance cameras.”

All three suspects are described as young, black males. They were wearing dark sweatpants and dark hoodie sweatshirts at the time of the robbery. McFadden says one of them was wearing pink tennis shoes. Two were carrying backpacks — one blue and one black.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact 9-1-1 or the Banks County Sheriff’s Office at 706-677-2248.
