7-Day Forecast: Turning Dryer

All eyes are on the sky as Habersham Countians prepare for graduation tonight and the Mountain Laurel Festival on Saturday. Heavy rain is possible later today and tonight, but we will turn dryer as we head through the weekend.

The models have continued to trend down with precipitation amounts across the drought-stricken areas of Northeast Georgia, however total amounts around 1/2-1″ are still expected. Widespread heavy rain isn’t expected, however the rain could certainly be heavy at times so be careful when traveling and be alert for any ponding of water on roadways in the heavier showers. The rain and clouds will keep things quite cool with only 60’s for highs today.

Rain continues to be likely overnight with a few showers lingering into Saturday morning. We’ll likely see some breaks in the clouds by Saturday afternoon, but a few scattered showers will remain possible all the way through early Sunday morning.

I expect us to stay dry with plenty of sun on Sunday, so it will be the best weekend day for outdoor plans.

Heading into Monday and Tuesday of next week expect plenty of sun, with just a very isolated chance of a shower on Wednesday.

Everybody have a great Friday!~TW
