Authorities are investigating the death of a Habersham County man whose body was discovered inside a chicken house on Chestlyn Drive off of Sam Bell Road near Clarkesville.

52-year old Charles Ernest Hamilton was found dead by the manager of the chicken house late Thursday, according to Habersham County Deputy Coroner Ken Franklin. “The manager of the chicken house had come in and was going to do some office work and saw a door open and found him.”

Hamilton lived on Chestlyn Drive. Authorities were alerted to his death at 10:42 p.m. on December 22nd.

Franklin says the cause of death was not immediately known. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation.

“There are some unanswered questions,” says Franklin, ” and that’s why the GBI was called in to help investigate.”

Hamilton’s body was sent to the state crime lab. Authorities are now waiting on the results of an autopsy to determine what killed him.

Now Habersham has reached out to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and GBI for information. This story will be updated as new details becomes available.
