Authorities are searching for the woman who robbed the Northeast Georgia Bank in Commerce this morning. Banks County deputies were called to the scene at 30990 Highway 441 around 10:30 a.m.
The suspect is described as a thin white female in her early to mid-30’s with blonde hair. Witnesses stated she stood approximately 5’4 and was wearing a white t-shirt and brown shorts. The suspect was wearing a black bandana on her head but removed it after leaving the bank, according to a news release issued by the Banks County Sheriff’s Office.
During the robbery the woman showed employees a firearm she was carrying in a bag. “We do know that the female was in possession of a firearm,” McFadden says. “As to if it was an actual shotgun or large pistol, it is not confirmed (as to) the particular type. The witnesses advised that the female partially presented the firearm in a bag to employees.”
After the robbery, the suspect left on foot and was last seen walking toward the Days Inn.
Law enforcement issued a lookout for a “vehicle of interest” — a blue-grey Dodge Caravan with a New York license plate on the front bumper, possible model year 2006 or 2007.
Law enforcement along the I-85 corridor, including in South Carolina, were told to be on the lookout.
Approximately four hours after the robbery, a similar van was stopped by Cleveland Police on the Helen Highway in White County. Reports began circulating on social media it was the suspect. However, Banks County Sheriff’s Lt. Carissa McFadden says, “I’ve been advised that the arrest in Cleveland is not her and (is) unrelated.”
Below are surveillance photos of the suspect captured on the bank’s security camera.

Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact 911 immediately.
