Each year in late August, the Tallulah Falls School middle school cross country team holds a Mulch Madness day on the trails at the Tallulah Gorge State Park.

On August 29, 25 young harriers and many parents spread loads of mulch on the entire south rim trail in a three-hour morning work session.

“On a day when the 100 permit limit to the gorge was reached by 8:45 a.m., numerous people from all parts of Georgia as well as international guests expressed gratitude for our students’ service to their community,” said TFS Athletic Director Scott Neal. “The athletes engaged in conversation with many hikers and gorge gazers, developed an organized system of loading, dumping, and spreading, and bonded as a team. We are proud to partner with our local state park to highlight our community as one of the best in the nation as a place to visit. We already know it’s an incredible place to live.”
