Pop star Aaron Carter arrested on suspicion of DUI and drug possession in Habersham

Pop star Arron Carter has been released from the Habersham County jail after posting bond on a DUI and drug related arrest.

The 29-year-old Carter was arrested Saturday at 7:55 p.m. in Cornelia after someone called 911 to report a vehicle for erratic driving. He and his photographer girlfriend, Madison Parker, were pulled over at GA 385 and Carpenters Cove Lane.

Carter is charged with several misdemeanors including DUI, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of drug related objects, according to Habersham Sheriff’s Captain Floyd Canup. Parker was arrested on the same charges and also faces a misdemeanor obstruction charge. Canup says Parker is eligible for bond but as of early Sunday afternoon remained in jail.

Prior to his arrest, Carter’s staff wrote on Twitter that he was going to miss a Saturday show in Kansas City due to “transportation issues.”

The former child star is the younger brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter. He’s best known for his 2000 album and single “Aaron’s Party (Come and Get It),” and song “I Want Candy.”

Carter is scheduled to host a meet and greet and give a sneak peek of new music on July 19 in Birmingham, Alabama, according to his social media accounts.
