A Boil Water Advisory issued Saturday by the City of Demorest Water Department remains in effect. The advisory was issued after a weekend water main break on Hazel Creek Road in Mt. Airy.
If you live on the following roads in Habersham County and you lost water pressure or experienced a complete outage and are on the City of Demorest Water System, please boil your water until further notice: Hazel Creek Road from Highway 197 to Highway 365, Cody Road, Kinney Mill Road, Blacksnake Road, North Mize Road, Canterbury Trail, Dicks Hill Parkway, Rock Road and Antioch Church Road.
Those in the affected areas should boil all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil. Citizens should continue to boil their water until they are notified by the City of Demorest that the water system has been restored to full operation and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption.
The City of Demorest will issue a public notice to lift the advisory.
Please call the offices of City Hall at 706-778-4202 or email office@cityofdemorest.
