(Cleveland)- The Georgia Department of Transportation and the Cleveland City Council have approved a lane change project that will make it easier for motorist making a right turn on the east side of historic courthouse square in downtown Cleveland.
Currently drivers approaching the square from Highway 115 east ( East Kytle Street) must travel into Highway 129 north before making a right turn, to go around the square. The new intersection lane change will allow motorist to exit highway 115 and start making the turn sooner, with a special lane designed for the right turn. A curb separation from Highway 115 traffic will be installed.
The current intersection design has motorist making a wide turn and many drivers turn illegally by cutting through the marked off area in the roadway.
No start date for the project has been announced.
