Local authorities are asking for your help to locate a wanted sex offender. A notice posted to the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office’s verified Facebook page states Joseph Matthew Swafford has active criminal charges for failing to comply with his annual registration requirements as a sex offender.
The 40-year old Swafford was convicted in 2005 of indecent liberties with a child in North Carolina. He has a Level II risk assessment classification which means he’s considered an intermediate risk for future sexual offenses.
The 40-year old Swafford is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 240 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He has slave, flames and skull tattoos on his left hand and a skull and cross tattoo on his left arm.
Swafford’s last known address is listed as 49 Loop Way, Rabun Gap, GA 30568.
